Parents Taking Charge in Education Summer Fun and Learning through Exposure Series Part 4- Teaching Children Responsibility by Mrs. Dorothy Barron

Parents Taking Charge in Education Summer Fun and Learning through Exposure Series Part 4- Teaching Children Responsibility by Mrs. Dorothy Barron

Summer can allow for a slower pace for some Parents and children. Consider taking this time to provide opportunities to
Teach your child/ren how to perform chores correctly and completely

Allow your child/ren to work at a job with supervision

And/or Volunteer:

Teaching and exposure to the above can provide your child/ren with:
·         Lifelong skills
·         A work ethic
·         A way to give back to the community
·         Social skills
·         Becoming a responsible individual
·         Building his/her confidence and self-esteem
Creative Ways to make chores, jobs and volunteerism fun; here are a couple of suggestions:
·         Compile a list of activities of which your child/ren would like to engage. Whichever child completes his/her chore(s) first and best (comparable with age level) gets to choose first from the activity list.
·         Game: Who can we help, today (Volunteerism)? Notice people around you and ask your child/ren to name a way(s) in which he/she would assist. If providing assistance in certain cases are applicable, possible, and appropriate and with your full supervision consider allowing your child/ren to provide assistance.
This wraps up our 4 Part Parents Taking Charge in Education Summer Fun and Learning through Exposure Series; thank you for joining me.
