Cyber Bullying Month by Mrs. Dorothy Barron
“The Cyber Highway is that
which many use; let us not abuse” by Mrs. Dorothy Barron
This month
has been designated as Cyber Bullying month nationally to bring awareness to
the problem of Cyber-bullying. There are at least two major things which
citizens should be afforded as pursuant to law - a certain amount of freedom of
privacy and freedom from harassment in the possession and/or use of electronic,
cyber based products inclusive of all related systems.
Parents, it
is important that your child understand the scope of the Internet and
electronic cyber products (cell phones and other devices), as well as the far
reaching consequences of which and perhaps most young people do not give much
thought. Some unsuitable material posted now could not only harm them now, but
later and prevent them from certain positions; jobs; appointments and/or worse should
material now posted surface later in life.
Remind your
child that a good rule of thumb to observe when situations arise involving
bullying and whether online or offline, one should treat others the way they
would like to be treated.
As a Public
Service Announcement, we want to provide you with a link to the USA.gov Blog and
